Establishment/Foundation
Carlo Tomaello was born in Venice on the 27th of November of 1887. He grows up in Friuli: the region in the northeast of Italy that is home to many terazzo and mosaic workers.
From 1905 up until 1914 he works with the Goslar family in the Harz-area in Germany. Just when he is planning to start his own business together with his cousin, World War I causes him to return to Fanna in Friuli.
On the 1st of September 1924, after a short stay in Nijmegen and Rotterdam, Carlo Tomaello and his fellow-villager Giovanni Mion establish the terrazo company “Mion & Tomaello” in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands.
Their first business contacts are with Baauw from Vlaardingen, which to this day is still a valued supplier of Tomaello Ltd. Clients from the towns of Delft and Den Briel soon follow.
